How we rate casinos

This is how we rate casinos. Every review ends in one number, but that number is built from six scores. Together they form the radar shape you see on each casino page. A strong casino has a wide, even shape. A weak spot shows as a dent.

The six scores

Each score runs from 0 to 10. The overall rating is the weighted average of the six.

The six scores

Safety25%Licence checked with the regulator, company details, data protection, account security, history of complaints.

Payouts20%Withdrawal speed, limits, fees, identity checks, and whether paid-out amounts match what was promised.

Sportsbook scores

Sportsbooks are rated on their own six scores, because odds and markets matter there and game libraries do not. Each score runs from 0 to 10 and the overall rating is the weighted average.

How a review is done

  • We check the licence number with the named regulator, not only the logo on the casino site.
  • We read the terms, including the small print on bonuses and withdrawals.
  • We test sign-up, deposit, support and withdrawal where it is lawful and practical.
  • We take player reviews into account, but they are shown separately from our rating.

Independence

A casino cannot pay to change its scores. Commercial links, if we ever switch them on, do not change a rating. See the affiliate disclosure for the current status.

Blacklist

A casino goes on the blacklist when there is repeated, documented evidence of unpaid withdrawals, false licences or other serious harm to players. Blacklisted casinos are marked clearly and never get a play link.

Errors and updates

If you think a score is wrong, write to us with evidence. We correct mistakes and note the date of each update on the review.
